  • Dr. Matthew Marc Souza

    Dr. Matthew Marc Souza was born and raised in southeastern Massachusetts.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Animal Science, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, then went on to receive his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

    He moved to western New York soon after graduation to practice small animal medicine and surgery in the City of Buffalo.  Within 5 years of graduation, he was offered the Hospital Director position at McClelland Animal Hospital, where he is currently the hospital owner and President.  During his veterinary career in Buffalo, he has provided veterinary care not only to the community, but also, the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter and Second Chance Sheltering Network. 

    Dr. Souza's most recent achievement was acquiring his private pilot's license.  When not practicing veterinary medicine, he is pursuing further training in instrument rating and commercial licensure.  Dr. Souza divides his spare time between family and friends, and of course, his numerous canine and feline friends.

  • Dr. Marylisa Reynders

    Dr. Marylisa Reynders is a proud native of Western New York. She attended Calasanctius School in Buffalo, New York, graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo (Bachelor of Arts, Biological Sciences) and obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the New York State College of Veterinary at Cornell University (2002). Dr. Reynders attended Cornell University under an academic fellowship for feline medicine.

    After completion of her doctorate, Dr. Reynders joined a busy companion animal clinic in the Buffalo, New York area, where she practiced small animal medicine for 7 years.  Dr. Reynders has recently pursued special training in the use of small animal diagnostic ultrasound at the Ontario Veterinary College, Guelph, Ontario.  She has also served on the Board of the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society, and from time to time contributes to the Buffalo News Pet Column.

    In March of 2009, Dr. Reynders joined the staff of McClelland Animal Hospital. McClelland Animal Hospital is the oldest existing practice in Buffalo's long history.  She strives to continue to offer thorough, practical medicine, with a friendly, educational approach.  With a strong interest in feline internal medicine and disease, she is a proud supporter and provider for the non-profit Second Chance Sheltering Network   Dr. Reynders is also a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

    Dr. Reynders resides in the Elmwood Village with her modern blue point Siamese named Aubrey. Aubrey has truly been the best companion and gift from her clients. Aubrey continues to be the subject of many tales of amusement at the office. When she is not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Reynders enjoys listening to jazz music, gardening, and cooking classic French cuisine. 

    Dr. Souza, Dr. Reynders, Dr. Carrig and Dr. Doyle are affiliated members of the American Veterinary Medical Association, New York State Veterinary Medical Society, Niagara Frontier Veterinary Medical Society, and the Western New York Veterinary Medical Society.

  • Dr. Daniel Carrig

    Dr. Daniel Carrig was born and raised in Buffalo’s very own Old First Ward. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Veterinary Technology, from Medaille College here in Buffalo, NY. He worked many years as a Licensed Veterinary Technician locally before completing his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from St. Georges University in April of 2015. Dr. Carrig came to us after finishing a yearlong stint at the University of Georgia for clinics. His professional interest includes soft tissue surgery, dentistry, parasitology, and client education. He is looking forward to learning more about orthopedic surgery.

    He is really excited to be moving back to his hometown. He enjoys watching just about any sport but his favorite is football and his Buffalo Bills. When he is not at work you can find him playing basketball, going for a run, catching a good movie or even riding his bicycle down to the Marina to enjoy the waterfront.

    Dr. Carrig lives in the Old First Ward with his three adopted dogs Kit, Lucky and Chauncy. Kit the newest member is a 10-year-old Chinese crested with heart disease; Lucky is a miniature pincher who has diabetes and Chauncy is a healthy and happy pointer mix.

  • Dr. Kristina Doyle

    Dr. Kristina Doyle was born and raised in North Buffalo. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and Bachelor’s of Arts in English Literature from the University of Rochester, a Master’s of Science from the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College. She has a strong interest in low stress veterinary care and preventative medicine, as well as giving back to the community through McClelland’s dedication to Buffalo’s shelter and rescue animals.

    Dr. Doyle is excited to be moving back to Buffalo to join the McClelland team! She lives with her 10-year-old adopted German Shepherd mix, Damien, who she spends most of her free time with—exploring the city, frequenting the dog park, and hiking western New York’s many trails! Outside of work, you will most likely find Dr. Doyle spending time with family and friends, investigating Buffalo’s incredible local events, playing in her kitchen with new recipes, or taking on the outdoors—kayaking, climbing, biking, or hiking!

  • Betty

    Betty is the full-time groomer at McClelland's.  She attended the SUNY Delhi Animal Technology Program.  She has been grooming for 31 years.  She was fortunate enough to have owned her own grooming parlor for 15 years, before her addition to the McClelland staff.  She has worked on dogs, cats, ferrets, guinea pigs, turtles and an Arctic fox.  At one time she was an avid tropical fish breeder. Most often, she can be caught listening to Blues or Rock and Roll.  She shares her home with two dogs, two cats, and a turtle.

  • Amy

    Amy is our lead veterinary technician.  She performs several managerial duties for the hospital as well.  Prior to entrance in the veterinary field, she held several customer service positions.  She was born and raised in Hamburg, New York, and received her veterinary technician degree from Medaille College, in 1997.  She has been working as a technician at McClelland Animal Hospital for over 12 years. She loves all animals but has a weakness for ferrets, both domesticated ones, and their cousins, the Black Footed Ferrets.

  • Katie

    Katie was born and raised in South Buffalo.  She obtained her veterinary technician degree from Medaille College as well.  Prior to coming to McClelland Animal Hospital, she worked at Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center.  She currently owns 9 cats, and 2 dogs, all of whom are rescue animals.  She enjoys the small practice setting, always wears a smile, loves being an LVT, and looks forward to meeting you and your beloved pets.

    Rachel attended Medaille College where she earned her license as a Veterinary Technician in 2012. Shortly after she graduated, she joined our team with excitement to work in a small practice setting. After growing up in the town of Elma, she keeps herself occupied there with her loving yet energetic boxer, Asia. She is currently continuing her education at Medaille College for a bachelors in Veterinary Technology and pre-vet. Rachel is very devoted to our family at Mcclelland Animal Hospital and looks forward to caring for your pet.
